Robin Lyons of Ponoka Alberta (shown here in Shot) surprised many by finishing only 34cm behind Georgette Reed to claim second place in an Alberta sweep of 1-2 in Women's Discus. She also finished 5th in Hammer and 11th in Shot Put. Lyons toss of 50.06m was a personal best. She will be part of Alberta's 1-2 punch in women's discus at the Canada Games in August. Nicole Chimko will be the other.
One of the finer performances on the National Championships was Caroline Wittrin's National Record in women's hammer. For more on her results see the women's hammer results page.
