Marie Le Jour Named First Team Academic All-District VII

Sophomore track and field athlete carries a 4.0 GPA in pre-med/health sciences major.

LARAMIE, Wyo. -

Marie Le Jour, a sophomore on the University of Wyoming women's indoor/outdoor track and field team, was selected on Tuesday as a First Team GTE Academic All-District VII Spring At-Large honoree. Le Jour, who has earned a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average in geology, is one of 10 individuals to earn First Team honors. She is now eligible for the national ballot, which will be announced early this summer.

At the recent Mountain West Conference Outdoor Championships, Le Jour helped lead the Cowgirls to a third place finish in the inaugural event. She placed third in the discus with a throw of 48.59, fourth in the shot put with a mark of 14.37, and a sixth place finish in the hammer throw (55.63).

During the indoor season, she was a participant in the NCAA 2000 Championships in the shot put. She ranks second on the all-time list in that event with a personal best mark of 15.90. Le Jour also stands second all-time in the javelin with a mark of 40.64, and fifth in the Wyoming record book with a distance of 48.84.
