Toman Opens Outdoor Season Big

March 23 1998
Liz Toman opened her outdoor season with a bang this past weekend as she threw an NCAA provisional mark in javelin. Her throw of 48.34m also established a new Colorado State school record and new Laurel Creek Track club record as well. At the same meet she also threw 13.88 meters in shot put. These marks set Liz on pace to have a great outdoor multi-event season as well as some individual event success.

Also opening the season with a bang was John Stoikos who established a personal best in the men's hammer of 68.48 which is just over a meter short of the Commonwealth games minimum standard. Glenn McAtee also competed at the same meet and had a respectable first meet showing by throwing 61.98m in hammer as well. Also setting a personal best her first meet outdoors was Jennifer Joyce as she threw 50.08m in the women's hammer at the Oregon preview in Eugene Oregon.
