Hammer Records for Armstrong, StevensonJune 02 1999Dylan Armstrong continued his assault on the record books this past weekend at the BC Provincial Championships when he eclipsed two 25 year old records. Armstrong threw 75.22 in the hammer to easily win the event over Mike Ankerman of Kelowna who threw 51.61 and Adam Smith of Mt Boucherie who threw 46.45 for third. Arstrong also established a new discus record of 54.28. 2. Jeremy Edwards of Correlieu was second with 45.71 and in third was. Kristoff Kipp of Ft. St. James with a toss of44.41. Armstrong also went on to throw 16.34 in the shot which he also won. On the women's side Carol Stevenson established a new hammer record as well when she threw 51.26. Jennifer Padrinao of Holy Cross threw 47.00 for second place while Amanda Clifford of Burnsview threw 45.07 for third. Stevenson also threw 11.76 to win the shot put. Both Stevenson and Armstrong were named the outstanding athletes of the meet and as many had anticipated, Burnaby Central on the strength of their girl's team that's led by the twin wrecking crew of Natlaie Jackson and Angela Anoliefoh easily won the Meet scoring 127 point. G.P. Vanier with 71 points to place second and Vancouver College was third with 53 points. BC won the Girls Team Championship scoring 95 points and Charles London with 44 points and Claremong with 41 points were second and third respectively. Vancouver College took the Boys Team title with 53 points. Westsyde with 40 points was second and Fleetwood Park came third with 39 points.
