Vicki Webb signs with Wichita State UniversityJuly 28 1998Vicki Webb signed a full scholarship to attend Wichita State this past week. She is to begin there this August shortly after returning home from he stint with the national junior team tour. Webb had been speaking with Bryan Compton, throws coach at Witcha State since December and made the decision to attend ther a atfer visiting the school a few weeks ago. Webb had been entertaining about a six diffeerent schools but decided on Wichita based on the their acedemic program and the fact that they have two 50m plus javelin throwers there already. In addition, coach Compton was the graduate asistant at Texas Tech University while Vicki's club coach with Laurel Creek, Richard Parkinson, was attending university there. "It helps when there already is a relation with my coach and the university's coach", Webb said, "It ensures me that there will be some continunity with the program that I have had for the past three years with Richard". Webb would like to thank all those universities who had shown interest in her and is gratfull for their patience while she made this decision.
