Russell, Joyce, Double Winners

July 23 1998

Scott Russell and Jennifer Joyce both were double event winners at the Canadian Junior National Championships and both were subsequently named to the World Juniors Team for Canada. Carol Stevenson, also a hammer thrower was the third of only three throwers named to the World Junior team. Russell won both the javelin and discus while finishing third in hammer and fourth in shot. Joyce meanwhile, finished first in hammer and discus. Joyce was only 3cm away from her Canadian Junior record of 53.45m that she established earlier in the week at the National Speed and Power Çamp in Flagstaff Arizona.
