Russel Named Big 12 Athlete of the WeekJan 24 2001University of Kansas athlete Scott Russell was named male track athlete of the week for the Big 12 Conference through their offices in Dallas. Recognizing his automatic NCAA qualifier in the Weight throw at Missouri Southern 22.00m (72 ft. 21/4 in) from Jan 13. This is the first time Scott has been selected conference athlete of the week indoors. His other conference award came outdoors in 1999 when he was recognized as the Big 12 outstanding male performer and leading scorer at the Big 12 Outdoor Championship.
