Weight Throw Records Fall

Two Canadian Weight Throw records fell this past weekend at the University of Wyoming Early Bird Classic. Robin Lyons set a new Senior Canadian record of 19.97m breaking Michelle Fournier's record of 19.45m set in the spring of 1998. Marie-Josee Le Jour also helped to remove Fournier's junior record from the books by throwing 17.37m. Fournier's old record was 17.34m. Other Canadian results inlcuded personal bests by Derek Woodske, 1998 National Junior College Champion, with a throw of 19.68m and Jason Gervais, 1998 National Junior College Discus champion, with 19.62 in Weight Throw. Andrew McDonagh had his debut in the weight also and threw 14.72m. In shot results Lyons also had a personal best of 14.30m while Le Jour threw a pb of 13.20m. Gervais threw 16.71, McDonagh threw a pb of 14.02 and Woodske threw 12.77. Meanwhile at the Kent winter open Ruth Conlon threw a personal best in the weight throw of 16.28m. Lyons scored the automatic qualifier for the NCAA indoor championships and Le Jour, Gervais, and Woodske, all threw provisional qualifiers for the NCAA Champs.
