New Canadian Record for WittrinAugust 21 1998Competing at a Lethbridge Twilight meet on Wednesday night Caroline Wittrin established another Canadian Record in women's hammer. Wittrin eclipsed her old mark of 60.85m by over a metre when she tossed out a 62.07m throw and also became the first Canadian woman over the 200ft(60.96m) mark. Noteworthy is the fact that Lethbridge was the site of her coach, Mike Cairns, first throw over 200ft. as well. Finishing second was Commonwealth Games teammate Patti Pilsner-Steinke with a throw of 57.88m. This was Wittrin's 7th meet over 60m and now moves her into the third spot in the Commonwealth rankings and 25th in the world. The two athletes now prepare for competition in Singapore on the 5th of September before continuing on to the games in Kula Lumpir. Finals WOMEN'S SHOT PUT 1.
