STEACY'S SET PROVINCIAL MARKS
While their older brother Jim Steacy is busy making a mark in CIS competition, his siblings Sean and Heather are making an impact of their own. At the Alberta provincial track and field championships this past weekend the two Chinook track and field club athletes both established new provincial records en route to their provincial gold medals.
Sean established a new provincial record in the juvenile men's weight throw as well as a new national youth record with a throw of 21.71 meters. He also won a gold medal in juvenile men's pole vault and a silver medal in shot put. Meanwhile Heather also established a provincial midget and juvenile record in weight throw with a toss of 16.18 and also won the midget women's shot put with a throw of 9.49.
Other Chinook Track and Field Club medallists included Kate Forbes winning the women's shot put and weight throw, Jaime Thomas with a silver in men's high jump, Kendra Harper was a silver medal in high jump, and Arielle Mitchell was also a silver medallist in pole vault. Other notable results included Wes Rogers fourth place finish in the men's 1500m
